NOVEMBER ( Soundtrack ) ( Top-level view ) ( Latest Page ) |
WEATHER
November proves to be unusually cold this year, with a heavy frost setting in around the second day of the month and lingering throughout. Temperatures during the day are brisk, leading toward positively cold nights, and some begin to wonder whether the school will see an early snowfall this year. Flurries will begin to set in around the 28th of the month.
ONGOING THROUGH NOVEMBER
GIVE THANKS! November ushers in the last of the harvest festivals, and with them, people are encouraged to come together and give thanks for the bountiful harvest for the year. What does this entail? Festivals around the area, usually with livestock and produce, and, of course, parties with lots and lots of food!
EXAMS! The dreaded mid-terms. You knew this time was coming. Did you study for your tests? Do your tests even matter to you? Teachers, are you a sadist? Or will you show your poor students a bit of mercy (the answer is no, you should never show them mercy)? Heaven or Hell, let's rock these tests!
WATCH OUT! The campus has become a dangerous place lately, and we don't just mean the monster attacks! With temperatures dipping below freezing, frost and ice will begin to spread at a surprising rate. It seems a bit suspicious, actually...
OPEN HOUSE! This time of year is notorious for family members to stop by and visit, and, as such, Valoran Institute will be hosting an open house during the early part of the month. Catch up with your dear aunts and uncles, pester your kid siblings, or maybe just try to avoid getting embarrassed by your parents. Good luck, it never works.
WILD CARD! Come up with your own prompt!
MONSTERS OF THE MONTH!
Things seem to be relatively quiet around the campus, surprisingly enough. It seems that those valorous vigilantes have been gaining a bit of notoriety, judging by how the student body has begun talking about them. But don't get too complacent. Rumor has it that strange robed figures have been spotted around the campus, late at night.
MINI EVENT!
MID-TERM STRETCH! With mid-terms over around the 13th, the faculty have gotten together to play a game. In line with their tradition of nurturing young, strong and tactical minds, they have concocted what they call the Mid-Term Stretch! Students will be pitted against each other in a competition. The sport? To be determined. Although rumor has it that it may have something to do with paint...
(This log will be posted on July 15th)
EXAMS/ANYTHING REALLY/also a placeholder
Of course, being on the robotic side she does not need to revise so much as exams are simply a case of efficient searching algorithms sifting through the information in her hard drives... in any case, she can be found in the library if not in the corridors with various thick books on social sciences. ]
late late late sorry!
This also meant other things got pushed to the wayside, like taking care of herself in the cold weather. Whoops. Oh well, she was young, a cold wouldn't get her down.
She shouldn't be surprised to see Orianna in the library. No, it wasn't that. There was something different about her that the other blond simply couldn't place. Had something happened during her vacation from school? ]
Orianna!
[ She kept her voice low, sitting down next to the mechanical girl, smiling as she did. ]
Where have you been? We missed you at club.
[ A beat. ]
Well, I mean, I missed you too, of course, but you know what I mean. How are you? What are you working on?

[ Exams never intimidated her before, so why should they now? She knew that she would be the top of her class, as always, but that didn't mean that the blond wasn't going to study. So, sitting in the Science club room, Lux was buried in her books. Math, Physics, Writing, everything under the sun.
Was she studying multiple subjects at the same time? Probably. ]
[#2]
[ Why was it so cold? Her nose was red and stuffy, and despite being bundled up from head to toe, Lux felt more than a bit miserable. She was not a fan of the winter, even slightly, and the fact that it was coming early this year made it even worse.
Her mind trailing off to other things--like how quiet things had been since Harrowing--she hardly noticed the patch of ice. The janitorial staff must have been slacking off. Even being as careful as she was, Lux felt herself slip. How embarrassing! Ouch! Winter was the worst! ]

because it's cool for college kids to make fun of high schoolers, striding over in order to offer sardonic commentary...Only to make note of the redness of the other girl's nose and the utterly miserable expression on her face. Katarina's amusement evaporated momentarily. Okay. That was almost too pathetic to make fun of.
... Almost. ]
I see that obliviousness runs in the family. [ Way to go just standing there and not offering to help her up, Kat. ]

History & Theater Arts with Queen Bitch of the Universe
[ Professor LeBlanc's classes were something of a legend. While she only begun teaching at both Valoran Academy and Valoran University late last year, she had earned herself a reputation for being difficult. Immaculately dressed, she was definitely what one would describe as a "hot teacher;" unfortunately, her attitude sucked. Her lectures often went over people's heads, and were at time a bit skewed against a certain holier-than-thou kingdom. Her tests were impossibly hard, and she almost never gave full marks. Especially if you were Demacian. Then you were screwed.
She also had the uncanny ability to appear behind sleeping students, or somehow throw something at them at just the right time and velocity that it would always hit its mark. ]
You there.
[ She points directly at you. Uh oh, you've been spotted. ]
Answer the question on the board. You will be graded on your response.
[THEATER]
[ Theater instructor for Valoran University and adviser for the Theater club at Valoran Academy, Professor LeBlanc was needlessly blunt, and expected the very best performance out of each one of her students. What was that, exactly? That would be for them to figure out. Why would she give them the answers? Find your answers in the script, you damn lazy kids.
It was for that reason that she was rarely found in the classroom, or checked in with the club. She could be found in her office, with a glass that certainly wasn't filled with wine. Alcohol wasn't allowed on campus, after all. ]

Oddly enough, no one can remember actually seeing him in any classes. He just sort of loiters around between them, and has a strange habit of vanishing when your back is turned.
Right now, he seems to be hanging outside the science building, watching the loading dock for all the expensive toys this school gets and eating a sandwich.

Walking toward the science building, Lux noticed a student she hadn't seen before. Or had she? She felt like she might have, maybe in passing. She was terrible with faces sometimes. He seemed focused on something, and while she knew normally it was impolite to ask, she couldn't help but be a bit nosy.
She could call it being helpful. That's what she usually called it, anyway. ]
Anything interesting? I heard we were getting some new equipment coming into the Chem lab.
[ After Professor Ziggs decided to "accidentally" blow up a few things. "They were old, they were on their way out anyway." Everyone knew he just wanted new toys to play with. ]

Putting up MAH TOP-LEVEL late
[ University mid-terms were easy enough. Apart from History, where he was fairly sure LeBlanc had screwed him again, he knew he had done well. More importantly, he had to make sure his little sister was doing well. So here he was, strolling through Valoran Academy like he owned the place. Thankfully for everyone involved, he wasn't carrying his sword this time. ]
Now then, where are the results released?
[ The school rankings were made public, right? This was that kind of competitive school after all. ]
2. IT'S COLD AND BOYS ARE DUMB: TAKES PLACE AT ANY TIME IN THE MONTH, ANY WHERE
[ Never make Garen a dare. He'll take it up and you'll regret it. Unless what you're asking him to do is immoral or illegal, then you'll regret it anyway because he'll get pissed off.
What has transpired today was that some Freljordians bet Garen couldn't stand the cold the same way they could. So now he's standing the middle of a frozen field in nothing but a pair of shorts.
That is all. ]
