EVENT TIME!

( soundtrack )

Legend says that the very first Mid-Term Stretch was started by a young Yordle professor looking to make an impact at the school. While the details of the competition were lost to antiquity, Valoran Institute was forever changed. Every year since then, the school has hosted this day-long event after mid-term exams, as a way to not only let students blow off a bit of steam after tests, but also foster their naturally competitive tendencies in a--mostly--non-violent fashion. While much of the faculty knew what the competition would be well beforehand, they kept quiet, although a few rumors began to circulate.

Still, no amount of rumors would prepare the student body for the over-the-top competition that this year would offer.

Practically overnight, the campus was transformed into a makeshift battlefield. Platforms were erected on either side of the campus--one blue, and one red--with a wide array of items, all color-coded for each side. Students and faculty alike would be gathered in the middle area, where a much larger than usual projection of Karma stood.

"Good morning, one and all," Her voice boomed, aided by some unforeseen force. "Welcome to our 100th annual Mid-Term Stretch competition. I'll not keep you long. All of you should have received a message on your phones with a color. This will be your team for the duration of the event. Once you have received your team color, please move to your assigned position to pick up your gear, and directions for the rest of the event."

She paused, looking over the student and faculty body carefully. Her words are slow, measured. "I understand that it may be quite tempting to use this opportunity to deface our beautiful school. I would advise against this, unless the student in question is willing to live with the immediate consequences."

Karma smiled faintly. "I wish you all victory. Good luck and have fun."

[[OOC: This is an open log event! The Valoran Institute campus will be divided into five main points. These points must be captured and held. How? Students will be provided weapons and similar implements, all of which fire or spread either red or blue paint, depending upon their particular side. Your objective is to cover the area in your color. Points are kept real-time. Much of this is thematic in actual role play. Just beat the crap out of each other with paint guns and other things. Feel free to pick whatever color team for your character, but for ease of use, put either RED SIDE or BLUE SIDE in the subject line.]]

Hello everyone! Your porolicious mod is here with a few questions regarding the flow of this place, future events, as well as a bit of back end stuff to discuss!

First of all, with Valoran Institute celebrating two months of being open, and noting that activity has been somewhat up and down, I wanted to look at a few things that we can do. We've seen a few new people posting around, which is awesome, and I hope that more will come with it. However, looking at the claims page, I noticed that many people who expressed interest have not been present since then.

As such, I will be clearing out the claims post on July 1st. Anyone who has not made a comment on any of the catch-alls, event posts or anything else in the comm will be taken off the list. Those characters will be up for grabs once again.

Also, regarding flow, I understand that this isn't an official game, and the fact that we have something of a semi-official post schedule may seem daunting to some. So I want to open up the floor to see what people generally think of that, and if there are things that they want to see. In addition, I also want to take suggestions for future events (should we continue that course). Below is a tentative timeline of what I have in mind for the next few months:
    JULY
  • Mini Event: Paintball-esque Fight (suggestion by [personal profile] behold_the_void)
  • Catch All: Harvest festival, exams, beginnings of Snowdown

    AUGUST
  • Mini Event: Snowdown Fest! Considering bringing in something similar to Legend of the Poro King
  • Catch All: School Break, Christmas-themed things, lots of snow time to push some nerds into snow banks

    SEPTEMBER
  • Mini Event: Freljord-related (this is still in the works)
  • Catch All: TBD; this month will be light due to school starting

Also, with the addition of a few characters, we've actually been toying with a slightly larger PSL storyline involving Ekko and time shenanigans. I invite any and everyone to get involved. This may also open up opportunities for multiple versions of characters in the future, depending on how things go. Stay tuned!

I think that's everything. Some feedback would be appreciated, but not required. If I don't hear anything, I'll just assume that I am conducting business as usual. Thanks everyone!

EVENT TIME!

( what is homecoming? )

Every year toward the end of October, Valoran Academy and Valoran University hosts their Homecoming events. These are times where both schools invite alumni, as well as incoming or prospective students to tour the school, get a feel for clubs and events, and whatnot. Taking place over an entire week instead of a day, the event is capped by a big sports day, where various teams from the high school and college play at home, and the homecoming dance later in the evening.

Valoran Academy has drawn Piltover Prep for their competitors this year, and Valoran University will further fuel their rivalry with Demacia College. Students from both schools, as well as those from schools around Valoran (and surrounding areas of Runeterra that people may not have heard of) are invited to attend the games and collective Valoran Institute Homecoming Dance respectively.

This year's theme is a bit unorthodox, as a few students mentioned that it was unfair that they could not celebrate their favorite Shadow Isles-themed holiday during the same weekend, [REDACTED], so the student council has decided to collapse both themes together. This year's Homecoming will be a bit spookier than usual, with cobwebs and creepies harrowing the hallowed halls.

But not all of these supposed costumed coucilmembers are playing pretend! Around 9pm, the thick fog that had been settling over the campus will flood in, and with it, the stuff of nightmares! Maybe they came for the punch? Or to be punched? It's really hard to say.

[[OOC: This is an open log event! Players can do whatever they want, and assume that whatever scenario related to the above prompt is possible. In addition to this, this event acts as a fourth wall event, allowing for characters outside of the League of Legends meta canon to come in and play! Knowledge of LoL is not required, but if you want to do some reading, you can find the wikia here!]]

EVENT TIME!

( what's a tolo dance? )

Every September, Valoran Institute hosts an annual Tolo dance. Encompassing all three schools, it is a time for students of all ages to come together and dance and have fun. Rumors have been circulating for a few weeks that Pentakill would be coming to perform, so attendance is at an all-time high. Unfortunately, it would seem that the heavy rock band either lost its invitation in the mail, or that the rumors were, in fact false. There is still fun to be had, with a photo booth and lots of interesting props (including these weird things and some things no one's ever seen before). And there's music and dancing! That's what you came here for, right?

Unfortunately (or fortunately, if dances aren't really your thing), something else has been attracted by the sick beats of this obviously super awesome dance. Who invited all these guys?! About halfway through the dance, the party will be crashed by a bunch of, thankfully color-coordinated, monsters! Maybe they just want to get their groove on? Probably not...

[[OOC: This is an open log event! Players can do whatever they want, and assume that whatever scenario related to the above prompt is possible. Dance! Be a bored chaperone! Punch some void thing in the face! All this and more are possible!]]

[ The crisp air of September beginning to settle in, evening was beginning to fall around Valoran Institute. Students scuttled from club meetings to their dorms, or toward the cafeterias scattered around campus for an early dinner. It was peaceful; a gentle breeze passed through the trees, and a few leaves, freshly fallen to the ground, danced in the wind.

Peaceful, or so it would seem.

They marched in a line, not a one falling out of step. Brick and mortar crumbled as their barreled toward the school's otherwise pristine gates, and students scattered, screaming for fear of what would happen if they were caught in the crossfire. Were they under attack?! By who?! These creatures were strange--not quite the minions that inhabited the fields of justice. They were different. Destructive. Deadly.

Running only seemed to entice these monsters further and, wall finally falling enough to make a clear path, the armies flooded in. Screams echoed over the campus, ringing in the crisp, early evening air. VI, you might have a bit of a super minion problem. ]

[ OOC: This log is generally open to all, but primarily for Lux, Lulu, Orianna, Veigar and Ezreal. ]

Nestled near the illustrious Institute of War, in neutral land between Demacia and Noxus, Valoran Academy acts as a place to educate young, budding minds about such things as math, science, Runeterra's ever-changing history and, of course, combat. Home of the Flying Poros, only a selected few are given the unique opportunity to call Valoran Institute their Alma Mater.

Encompassing an elementary/middle school (Valoran Preparatory School), as well as the larger high school (Valoran Academy) and Valoran University (or VU for short), the criteria for being accepted seems to change depending upon the current Headmaster's whims. Tuition can be quite high, although a choice few students have been known to attend on full academic scholarship.

Many former students find themselves returning to VI's hallowed halls as faculty members. After all, once a Poro, always a Poro.

---

Valoran Institute is a Modern High School AU Dressing Room Game set roughly in the League of Legends world of Runeterra. Utilizing overarching themes from super hero comics, and shounen and magical girl anime, League champions assume the roles of students, teachers or other related staff in a world threatened by such terrors as diabolical scientists, nightmarish abominations and creatures from the deep, dark depths of the void, as well as the dreaded cumulative final exam.
