WEATHER

Baby, it's cold outside! Expect snow flurries regularly during the month. We hope you bought a sun lamp, because mister sunshine will be taking an extended vacation throughout the month of December. Notable amounts of snowfall are expected during the later part of the month, just in time for Snowdown. Bundle up and find someone to cuddle with, Poros, it's going to be a chilly month!

ONGOING THROUGH DECEMBER

FINALS! Fall term is done around the middle of the month, punctuated with exams and projects. The week leading up to the end of the term should prove to be busy, but it will be worth it in the end, right?
VACATION! Finally! The term is over and it's time to celebrate the Snowdown holiday! Are you going home for a few weeks or staying on campus? For those sticking around, the campus will prove to be a bit of a ghost town. It might be a good time for some shenanigans, or to go into town and hang out.
SNOWDOWN! The end of the year is here, and with it the Time of Snowdown! Time of Snowdown, the area around Valoran Institute will be decorated in kind. Shops will be offering special Snowdown sales to prepare for the gift-giving season. Be careful of the crowds, however, they can be quite cutthroat.
SNOW DAY! A blizzard is coming, time to bunker in! Classes will be cancelled for a few days, much to many of the teachers' chagrin (with exams just around the corner). What does this mean for the students? Snow ball fights, snow angels, snow forts, really the list goes on.
WILD CARD! Come up with your own prompt!

MONSTERS OF THE MONTH!

WHAT IS THIS FESTIVE THING??? The Snowdown-starved serpent of Summoner's Rift will be making an appearance around campus. It seems relatively harmless... unless you get too close. Baron Nashor will spawn in random areas around campus, here to spread Snowdown cheer with his noxious acid breath! Someone get this guy a candy cane!

MINI EVENT!

PORO INVASION The Poros have taken over the campus! They heard you have delicious Poro-Snax, and have come to visit en masse. Surely this couldn't be a bad thing, right..?

[As they reach the arcade, a group of boys is gathered around a console for a very familiar game - the one Lux had just learned to play not too long ago]

Huh. I thought they'd be on break. Guess they're still on campus.

Yeah, they're the local game club. They play a lot of fighting games and do really elaborate tournaments. I stop in on 'em sometimes but I don't really have time to master the games like they do.

I didn't know that they had this game at an arcade. I want to try it. I wonder how long they'll be playing here.

[indy_wannabe]

Probably for several hours. They tend to go round robin and the winner stays in. We can probably get you a spot in line though if you want.

I don't want to interrupt them...

[ Lux gets on her tip toes and tries to see over the crowd of guys. She looks like she really wants to play. ]

Oy! Guys! I got a new challenger for you!

[The guys turn and, seeing Ezreal, hoot and holler a bit, as if they don't consider him much of a challenge]

Nah, not me assholes. This young lady right here.

[The guys stare for a moment, before cracking up laughing, clearly not taking this seriously.]

Hey. HEY!

Don't give me that shit, you guys are always talkin' about how you'll take any challenger. Don't think you can handle a girl gamer? Put your money where your mouth is.

[One of the guys discusses some things with Ezreal, who gives him some agitated and less-than-polite hand gestures as they talk in low tones.]

Fine, she can fight Dave. We'll see if she's worth it.

[With that settled, Ezreal walks back to Lux and squeezes her shoulder gently, whispering into her ear as he walks past.]

You got this. Don't worry, it's a bit different but it's the same game. You can beat all of 'em. Show them what you can do!

Hey, Ezreal wait a--

[ Wait, were they laughing at her? She watches the exchange between Ezreal and who she assumed was their leader, crossing her arms over her chest and glaring a bit. This might have been a game, but Lux was suddenly very serious about the whole thing. She didn't even seem to bat an eyelash when he whispered at her. ]

Who said I was worried?

[ Walking up to the machine, she took a moment to acquaint herself with the controls before launching in. Losing the first match and nearly the second, about halfway through, something clicked. The controls took some getting used to.

The first fell, then the second. And anyone else who tried to face her. The poor boys never had a chance, not when she was being serious. ]

[As the last person falls to Lux, he drops to his knees, tears slowly streaming down his face. He looks to be in shock]

Uh. Huh. I think that's all of 'em, let's head out shall we?

[Grabbing Lux, he leads her toward the exit]

Um..? It's okay?

[ Lux lets Ezreal lead her off, not entirely sure what just happened. She only beat them in video games, it wasn't like she defeated them in battle or something like that. ]

What was that all about? Why was he kneeling and crying like that?

That was the president of the club and the best player in the school you just thrashed. I think he's having a crisis of faith.

[ladyofluminosity]

Really? That was him?

[ Somehow she thought he might be a bit impressive. ]

But it's just a game. I'm sure he'll be fine. Right?

He's already been scouted to go pro. Getting beaten by someone he's never seen before, much less a woman, is probably quite the blow.

What does my being a woman have to do with it?

These guys kind of live in the stone age where that's concerned. It's kind of dumb but they all think no woman could be good at "hardcore" games like they play.

[ Lux Crownguard: Saying it how it is. ]

He's welcome to challenge me any time he wants, I won't back down.

I'm sure he'll be back. Anyway, I think next on the agenda is the mall, we need to get you a gift or two.

[ Her eyes widen a bit in surprise. ]

Well good, I can at least surprise you a bit with it. I'm not 100% sure what all you're into so best to have you there this time to make sure you get something you like.
