WEATHER

November proves to be unusually cold this year, with a heavy frost setting in around the second day of the month and lingering throughout. Temperatures during the day are brisk, leading toward positively cold nights, and some begin to wonder whether the school will see an early snowfall this year. Flurries will begin to set in around the 28th of the month.

ONGOING THROUGH NOVEMBER

GIVE THANKS! November ushers in the last of the harvest festivals, and with them, people are encouraged to come together and give thanks for the bountiful harvest for the year. What does this entail? Festivals around the area, usually with livestock and produce, and, of course, parties with lots and lots of food!
EXAMS! The dreaded mid-terms. You knew this time was coming. Did you study for your tests? Do your tests even matter to you? Teachers, are you a sadist? Or will you show your poor students a bit of mercy (the answer is no, you should never show them mercy)? Heaven or Hell, let's rock these tests!
WATCH OUT! The campus has become a dangerous place lately, and we don't just mean the monster attacks! With temperatures dipping below freezing, frost and ice will begin to spread at a surprising rate. It seems a bit suspicious, actually...
OPEN HOUSE! This time of year is notorious for family members to stop by and visit, and, as such, Valoran Institute will be hosting an open house during the early part of the month. Catch up with your dear aunts and uncles, pester your kid siblings, or maybe just try to avoid getting embarrassed by your parents. Good luck, it never works.

MONSTERS OF THE MONTH!
Things seem to be relatively quiet around the campus, surprisingly enough. It seems that those valorous vigilantes have been gaining a bit of notoriety, judging by how the student body has begun talking about them. But don't get too complacent. Rumor has it that strange robed figures have been spotted around the campus, late at night.

MINI EVENT!

MID-TERM STRETCH! With mid-terms over around the 13th, the faculty have gotten together to play a game. In line with their tradition of nurturing young, strong and tactical minds, they have concocted what they call the Mid-Term Stretch! Students will be pitted against each other in a competition. The sport? To be determined. Although rumor has it that it may have something to do with paint...

Open House

[Ezreal didn't really have family coming out, so he was generally trying to avoid the preparation for the Open House. Unfortunately, some of his larger, more sports-oriented classmates felt that their preparations included making sure a mouthy little Pilty wasn't around to embarrass them. As such, it was a familiar scene with him pressed against the lockers]

Let's just get this over with boys.

[ladyofluminosity]

[ It would seem that Ezreal had a date with a locker, one of his harassers lifting him up by the shirt with one arm. Because what a light jerkass. One of his buddies preps the ADC's new home, while the other student slams Ezreal hard into a closed locker door, ready to shove him in, laughing and carrying on with his classmates.

Then stops as a pencil holder hits him in the head. A few wadded pieces of paper sail through the air, hitting more of Ezreal's classmates. ]

[The guys turn to face the newcomer]

Shove off, girlie. This doesn't concern you.

[ladyofluminosity]

I think it does. You should know that any kind of fighting, roughhousing or anything similar are against the rules here.

[ Walking quickly, she closes the distance between her and them. And she looks pissed. ]

Not to mention I don't appreciate you giving my friend a hard time.

[ By this time, she has moved to place herself in the main jock's way. She looks at Ezreal quickly before staring up at the boy holding him. ]

Because if you mess with him, you mess with me.

[indy_wannabe]

[The guys look about ready to fight back, until one of the guys takes a closer look at Lux]

That's the Crownguard girl! Garen's sister.

Oh man, I'm not gonna get in his way. Let's scram.

[The guys drop Ezreal and walk off.

Ezreal, on the other hand, has his mouth somewhat agape. He clearly has no idea what just happened there.]

[ She sighs deeply, flipping her hair for a bit of emphasis, before bending down. ]

Are you all right? Looks like one of them got you good. What happened?

[ Lux is fairly certain she knows, but she'd rather hear it from him. Although... ]

Come on, stand up. Let's get you patched up. It wouldn't be good to have your family see you roughed up like that.

[ She stands up, offering him a hand and a bit of a smile. ]

I'll be all right. It's pretty standard for me, I'd have been out in about two minutes. Don't worry about it, my family's not coming. Not that I have much of it to speak of.

Don't be difficult.

[ She grabs his hand, pulling him up. If he's going to be a stubborn baby about it, then she'll just drag him.

Besides, not having anyone visit him... did he get lonely? Now she couldn't leave him alone. And anyway... ]

Also you're in luck, I was just looking for a way to avoid seeing my parents. This should work just fine, come on. There's probably a med kit in one of these classrooms, we can hide out until the crowds thin out.

[Ezreal is surprisingly compliant in ducking into an empty classroom and not complaining while Lux fetches a medkit]

What's wrong with your parents? Don't get along?

...It's complicated. I don't want to bother you with it.

[ Fetching a medkit from a storage area, Lux proceeds to start cleaning him up. She looks surprisingly dour as she does. ]

Right. Anyway, are you trying to ditch the event?

[ladyofluminosity]

I--what? What ever gave you that idea?

[ She looks bewildered, but isn't exactly saying no. ]

[indy_wannabe]

You don't wanna meet your folks right? Ditching the event is a pretty good way to avoid it.

[ladyofluminosity]

But I'm part of the welcoming committee. I'm not in the position to "ditch the event" in its entirety, even if I wanted to!

Sure you are! Welcoming committee is basically first thing, if you REALLY have to do it it'll be over quick.

But it also means that I need to be on hand to show people around.

I saw how big the Welcoming Committee is. Do you really?

[ladyofluminosity]

My father would know if I was missing.

[ Her mother might not say anything, at least not in public. Her father, however, would put up a fuss and make sure that she was specifically assigned to them. ]

Don't worry, leave it to me!

[ladyofluminosity]

Huh? What do you mean leave it to you? Ezreal, what are you doing?

Don't worry, I have a plan. I'll catch you in a few, just go about your duties and play along.

[And with that, he heads off down the hall, his face more or less tended to after his roughing up]

[ She watches him, looking genuinely confused. Maybe a little concerned? It was hard to say.

Regardless, she does exactly that, going about her job as it is assigned. Her group is relatively small, consisting of her own family and a few others. Her mannerisms are exuberant enough, although anyone who knows her can tell that the whole thing is overly rehearsed. ]

This is the art wing. Valoran Academy offers a wide variety of art classes, including painting, ceramics, mixed media...

[ She was phoning it in a bit. ]

Ah, Luxanna! There you are!

[Ezreal, completely cleaned up and actually wearing something decent, as well as a name-badge from the Welcoming Committee that also clearly displays his title of Master Explorer of Piltover approaches the group, along with one of the Science Bowl members who also happened to be an actual member of the Welcoming Committee.]

I've been looking all over for you! We need you down by the entrance, we have some dignitaries who are about to arrive. George can take over.

[ladyofluminosity]

[ Lux does her best to hide her surprise. She knew that voice, but--Luxanna? He never called her that. It was even harder to disguise her shock, seeing him actually look presentable.

Just play along, huh? In that case... ]

I didn't realize that they were getting here so early!

[ She turned toward her group, giving them an apologetic smile. ]

I'm really sorry about this, but you'll be in good hands with George, I promise.

[ She moves toward Ezreal, waiting for him to lead the way. ]
