OCTOBER
OCTOBER ( Soundtrack ) ( Top-level view ) ( Latest Page ) |
WEATHER
Fall is in full swing, and temperatures are beginning to drop. Expect crisp mornings and cold evenings, with the temperature warming slightly during the day. The dog days of summer are gone, and they seem to have taken the sun with it. A mysterious, heavy fog will begin to set in from the south starting around the 27th, and stick around through the end of the month.
ONGOING THROUGH OCTOBER
HOMECOMING! Homecoming is coming up toward the end of the month, and anyone who is anyone will be in attendance! VPrep will be hosting its own dance during the third week of October as well.
SCHOOL SPIRIT! With clubs and sports in full-swing, teams will be going head-to-head with other schools, such as Piltover Prep, Demacia School for Young Ladies, and Bandle City Academy. VI has a reputation to keep as being the best of the best, but will they keep it?
MUSICAL THEATER! Valoran Institute is gearing up for auditions for their first production of the year. Fall means time for musicals, and this one seems to be a particularly interesting one! So brush up on your solfege and get your monologues ready, it's bound to be a blood bath!
SHADOW FEST! This holiday is coming up on the 31st of the month. People are encouraged to dress up in costumes, and either play tricks on others or pass out treats. The school will be decked out in spooky decorations all month, but not all of those skeletons are decorative!
WILD CARD! Come up with your own prompt!
MONSTERS OF THE MONTH!
Shambling onto campus, the zombie apocalypse has come! Thankfully, individually they don't seem to be much of a problem, but in large groups they may be a bit harder to deal with. It seems that they have brought friends as well; the halls may be a bit more haunted than usual, and that skeleton in the anatomy lab may prove to be a bit more "alive" than originally anticipated!
MINI EVENT!
HOMECOMING HAUNTINGS! At the end of the month, Valoran Institute will be hosting their annual Homecoming game and dance. The sport? Well, all of them of course! And in the evening, a dance encompassing all three schools will take place on campus. But what's this? We have some uninvited guests from the Shadow Isles. Time to dance with the devil, Valoran Institute! It's bound to be a spooky fun time!
ota. feel free to run into her wherever.
Lux thought for sure that, as a cute color guard member, her upperclassman on the football team would notice her. The last dance had been ruined by a tentacle monster (although she had managed to get a nice surprise with the strange, masked stranger that she met!), and she hoped that maybe, just maybe, she would be able to go to Homecoming with the boy she had her eye on.
Not only did that not happen, but she had to get embarrassed along the way, in front of a bunch of upperclassmen to boot.
So, Lux could be found around campus, completely beside herself. Oh, he tried to play it off well when she knew she would be watched, like in the halls or in class. But when it came time to be alone, like in the Science Olympiad classroom, she let her sadness get the best of her. It was stupid, she knew, and she would get over it eventually, but she needed to do something--anything--to get how completely humiliated she had been out of her head.
So, cute diary out on the table, she wrote about FEELINGS. Because man was she having them. Why would her cute upperclassman do that?! Augh! Her sniffling only just punctuated how ridiculous she was being about the whole thing. Embarrassing! This was so embarrassing! ]

Wait, what?
Furiously she tried to stuff her diary back into her book bag, all while wiping at her face. She didn't know what was going on, but whatever it was--probably some stupid monster again!--she wouldn't let it see her cry! ]

Oh hey Lux, wasn't expecting to see you here.

VU student, but still OTA
Leona, being of a naturally responsible disposition and an imposingly huge size (most of which is muscle), volunteers for this duty on a regular basis. Most of the PSAs are male, but the office had to admit that having the girl around just tended to make people feel safer. Even the darkness seemed to look a little brighter around Leona, though people occasionally wonder if that's ENTIRELY in their imagination or if there's something more going on here.
So why are you out this late? Did a party go later than you thought it would? Did you fall asleep in the library? Did you just get kicked out of someone's apartment after some ~drama~? Either way, Leona is willing to get you home safe AND to talk over your problems if you want her to.
[OR]
October rain turned the field into mud? That didn't stop the rugby team. If anything, that made them MORE gung ho about it. Especially with homecoming coming around, everyone was just feeling a little more sporty than normal. Leona, star of the team and spattered with grass and mud, flopped down on one of the bleachers to catch her breath, heedless of the rain.
Are you on the team? Are you a fan? Do you just like watching a bunch of girls tackling each other in the rain and mud? Whoever you are, Leona just tackled someone hard enough her feet actually left the ground. It was a pretty awe inspiring sight.
[OR]
You know whatever else you can think of. I'm easy.
rugby hoorah
He lets out a low, impressed whistle when Leona shows up. The women's captain was probably even tougher than him, at least when it came to checking people at full speed. Not that he would ever admit it, even if he had other, non-body-slamming related talents. For some reason, his own reputation of strength had become a matter of national pride. It was best not to think about it too much.

"Hi. You're on the men's team, aren't you?"
no subject
Not that he was bad at tackling people, mind.
"Your team has a match coming up soon, right? I figured it would be good to have some support even during training."
laaaaaate feel free to ignore if you want
Everyone, of course, knew about the Crownguards. She had actually wanted to meet him for a while now. Word was he was the best player on the men's team, and she was curious how she measured up, as obviously the best player on the women's team.
"We do, against Piltover. We creamed them last year, but word is they got a new coach and are a lot better now."
(Confession: I know almost nothing about Rugby, and looked up position names with google.)
It's okay. Sports, what is sports?
"You'll be fine. Our team won't lose to Piltover." There is no doubt in his voice. If Garen was going to have his name even remotely attached to a team, it was going to be the best team in all of Valoran. That was just fact.
"Do you need any help?"
A pile of points.
"Want to show us girls how it's done?" Leona asked, skeptically.

"...Alright. Who knows, maybe you'll learn something too."
This actually was a good opportunity. One of the other players had been trying to teach her what she called the "magic tackle", but it was an order of magnitude harder against someone who was shorter than you due to centers of gravity. Being the tallest member of the girl's team, Leona had never had much luck with it. Garen topped her by several inches, though.
no subject
"Maybe I will. I'll go change into my spikes, see you in two minutes." He stood up and jogged off to the changing room, and would eventually return in exactly one minute and fifty eight seconds.

Leona herself stood waiting for Garen, arms folded and generally not looking very worried.
[OOC: So how do you want to play this? I'm fine with basically whatever.]
how2rugby?
Garen spun the ball in his hands as he hopped on the spot, warming himself up with deep breaths. Leona seemed to be underestimating him. Her loss.
Three, two, one, go!
Ball in hand, Garen charged, running straight at the goal line, right through Leona.
it is a mystery, lost to the ages
